Ramcharger 8 Chairlift Comes to Big Sky this Winter

October 24, 2018

Are you serious about your lift access?  Well, get serious when you hear the most modern chairlift claimed to have ever been built will be ready to ride at Big Sky Resort in December 2018.

The eight-seater Ramcharger 8 chairlift is an ergonomically-shaped, D-Line chair lift with heated seats that will take around 3,600 skiers per hour to the top of Andesite Mountain.  This is the most technologically advanced lift that will be operating in Big Sky, Montana this season!

The building is coming along as crews have begun working on the chair barn’s exterior.  The storage building is 150' by 50' and is two stories tall.  The Ramcharger 8 chairs will be stored in the barn every night to protect the chairs from winter’s elements.

Just last week the lift gates have arrived and are being assembled.  The lift gates help skiers know when to move forward onto the loading carpet, which then safely gets skiers onto the Ramcharger 8 chair. The team also excitingly welcomed the arrival of the haul rope spindle.  Weighting in at 78,000 pounds, the haul rope will be rolled out to allow it to be spliced with Dopplemayr’s TRUsplice technology.

With 36 lifts currently at the resort, and 5850 skiable acres, Big Sky is excited to open the Ramcharger 8 this winter!  Get ready for shorter lift lines and amazing mountain access.
